AHSHA SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY
The Arizona High School Hockey Association Social Media Policy applies to any and all social media accounts created to represent teams, players and programs associated with AHSHA. It does not apply to private individual social media accounts.
Participation in activities and teams associated with and playing within AHSHA is a privilege. As such, the use of social media by a player, parent, coach or manager considered to be “unbecoming of AHSHA” may result in discipline including suspension, fines or removal from the leadership position or team.
Consistent with AHSHA’s mission statement, policies and those of USA Hockey, prohibited postings on social media sites include, but are not limited to, postings that harass, threaten, demean or intimidate other members of AHSHA; immoral conduct or indecency; and postings that violate standards of honesty and ethical relationships.
Failure to abide by this policy is subject to review by AHSHA and may result in Disciplinary Committee review, including in-person hearings. Failure to appear and/or adhere to the findings of AHSHA or its committee’s may also result in suspension, fines or removal from AHSHA.
Coaches and managers are encouraged to sanction and follow any social media use, created by any player, parent, coach or manager; that includes their team name, logo, school name, or AHSHA league reference.
Prior to the creation of any social media account listed above, it is recommended that you consult with your team management and/or AHSHA for guidance.
