One of the biggest issues we have found during our registration process relates to how the player’s name is entered into our system. Often a parent will use autofill to complete the registration which inevitably ends up registering one of the parent’s first name in the player’s first name field. Second to that we have also found that players who have “nicknames” such as “Johnny or Mike” are entered as Johnathon or Michael when completing the USA Hockey Membership Registration for a season, but when parent enter their information on registration day the enter the “nickname” instead of their proper name. In order to combat these issues AHSHA recommends the following:

1. We have created an online list of previously registered players from the Fall 2023/20254season and from the Winter Camp and Spring/Summer camps from this year. By no later than May 10^th, please check the PREVIOUSLY REGISTERED PLAYERS list on our website to make sure we have the correct information for your player’s name.
2. Make sure when completing the USA Hockey Membership Registration for the Fall 2024/2025 that the name you enter in their database must EXACTLY match the name in our database which will be the name you enter during AHSHA registration.
3. After checking the website, should you need to make a change to your player’s First or Last Name, please email Lauri Griebel at lgriebel@arizonahighschoolhockey.com by no later than May 10^th. Please include the player’s name that appears on the PREVIOUSLY REGISTERED PLAYERS list, the correct name that should be on the player’s profile, and the player's date of birth, so we can verify that we are changing the correct player’s name in our system.

We hope that by offering this option, it will eliminate some of the chaos during the registration process on May 15^th.

*** Remember do not use autofill when completing your USA Hockey Membership Registration or when registering your player for the Fall 2024/2025 season.

Lastly, we recommend obtaining your players USA Hockey Membership Registration at least 48 hours prior to registering your player with AHSHA as it can take some time for their database to update and our database to pull that information.
