WHEN DOES THE SEASON BEGIN? Pre-Season practices begin in August.

WHEN DOES THE SEASON END? Depending on ice availability, the season should end in March.

HOW ARE TEAMS FORMED? The school you select during fall registration must be the school you will be attending for the Fall 2024/2025 season and will be used during team formation to place you on to a team. You will be required to show proof of enrollment by submitting your first semester of the Fall 2024/2025 school schedule at your first AHSHA practice in August. If the school listed on your registration does not match the name of the school on your school schedule you will be immediately removed from the league and a player from the restricted registration waitlist will be placed on to the roster in your spot. Any deposits or payments made will not be refunded upon your removal from the league.

WHEN DO TRY-OUTS START? AHSHA does not have Try-Outs. All players who sign up to play will be assigned to teams based on the High School they attend. Coaches will do player evaluations during practices held prior to the seeding tournament and assign players based on their skill level to one of the High School’s lower division teams (Varsity DII, Varsity DIII or JV team). If the High School has no other team, that player may be placed on a Combined High School varsity or junior varsity team based on their skill level and geographical area.

WHAT IS A COMBINED TEAM?  Combined School Teams are made up of schools that are grouped together based on the school district the players attend. We will attempt to keep players from the same school skating together. Players who are placed onto a Combined School Team may not be placed onto the same team they were assigned in the previous season.

WHAT IS A PURE TEAM? Pure Teams have all players assigned from the same school.

PLEASE NOTE:  AHSHA MAY CLOSE REGISTRATION AT ANY TIME!!!

WHAT IS RESTRICTED REGISTRATION? Players may register for teams that still have open roster spots. Parents/Parents will not be offered a choice of teams on which to be placed. This registration is restricted to players that agree to be placed on teams with open roster spots regardless of geographic area and approved by AHSHA to register on a restricted basis. Players approved for restricted registration will receive a registration password in order to complete the registration process and must register in a timely manner in order to be placed on a team. Not all players on the restricted registration list will be offered roster spots as we anticipate a large influx of new players coupled with returning players.
