2020-2021 HIGH SCHOOL FALL SEASON INFO

AHSHA Fall 2020/2021

2020-05-13

As we prepare for the upcoming Fall Season, AHSHA will continue to closely monitor the information provided by the AZ Department of Health Services (www.azdhs.gov/coronavirus) and the CDC (www.coronavirus.gov) regarding local and national COVID-19 activity.  As we continue to work through these unprecedented times, we are still hopeful that we will be able to provide all of our AHSHA Families with hockey in the Fall. Information listed below is subject to change based on existing parameters associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. In the event the Fall 2020/2021 season is cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic all fees collected will be refunded. AHSHA will be following the recommendations from USA Hockey and local rinks on how to proceed for the upcoming season.  Adjustments will be made accordingly.

Once hockey is allowed to return, we will be taking all necessary precautions to keep our Players, Coaches, Team Staff and Families safe.

FALL HOCKEY INFORMATION (Subject to change based on the COVID-19 pandemic)

Arizona High School Hockey Association (AHSHA) in partnership with the Arizona Coyotes will be entering into its 21st year of operation providing an opportunity for ice hockey players to participate in a competitive High School Hockey League representing their High School.

Fall League Dates: August 2020 – February 2021

Competitive Divisions:
Varsity D1
Varsity D2
Varsity D3
JV

Note: AHSHA does not have Try-Outs. All players who sign up to play will be assigned to teams based on the High School they attend. Coaches will then do player evaluations prior to the seeding tournament and assign players based on their skill level to one of the High School’s lower division teams (Varsity DII, Varsity DIII or JV team). If the High School has no other team, that player may be placed on a combined High School varsity or junior varsity team based on their skill level and geographical area. Pure Teams have players assigned from the same school. Combined School Teams are made up of schools that are grouped together based on the school district the players attend. We will attempt to keep players from the same school skating together. Players who are placed onto a Combined School Team may not be placed onto the same team they were assigned in the previous season.
