PLAYER RECOGNITION
The following is a list of AHSHA Player Recognition Awards:

ALL STARS:
- The All Star event is an opportunity for AHSHA to showcase its top players in each division.
- Players nominated by their coach should demonstrate a high level of performance, leadership and other attributes that project a positive image for AHSHA and the high school they represent.
- Coaches can nominate up to 6 forwards, 3 defensemen and 1 goalie.
- Each nominated player must have played in 50% of their games.
- Players who have received a Match Penalty, Game Misconduct(s) or are on Probation for the remainder of the season are not eligible to participate in this event.
- Players are selected to this team by coach's votes in each division and the Player's Recognition Committee.
- Players named to the All Star Team in their division participate in a divisional skills competition and divisional game at a date and time determined by the league.
- Alternates named to the All Star team in their division may participate in the skills competition and/or All Star game in the event an All Star is unable to participate.
- This award is based on a player’s academic achievement and recognizes varsity players who excel in the classroom.
- In order to be considered for this award, players must submit a copy of their current unofficial transcript.
- AHSHA will communicate when the current unofficial transcripts are to be sent in.
- The All Academic team will be comprised of the top six (6) academic players per varsity division.
- A monetary award or game is not associated with this award.
- All State recognition is for varsity players who demonstrate a high level of play in their division, commitment to their team and outstanding accomplishments throughout the season. The All State Teams are announced at the end of the Fall Season
- Coaches can nominate up to 5 players who have played in 60% or more of the games and can only vote for one of their own players.
- Players are nominated by their coaches, and selected by the Player Recognition committee based on coach’s votes.
- All State honors are awarded for each varsity division.
- A monetary award or game is not associated with this award.
- Players with the most votes in the All State balloting will be named to the All Arizona team.
- A monetary award or game is not associated with this award.
- This scholarship award is presented at the Varsity D1 championship game to the AHSHA Varsity player voted to have shown the best sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high level of performance in play.
- Players must submit a completed scholarship application to be considered for this award.
- Applications for the 2016-2017 season will open December 1, 2016 and close on January 7, 2017.
- Randy Exelby, of Behind the Mask, has teamed with AHSHA to create this award which was created in the memory of Stephen Daniel Demchik, a player in the Thunderbird High School hockey program who died in a hiking accident on August 3rd, 2006.
- Randy has always been a strong supporter of AHSHA and of all Arizona hockey. Many thanks go to Randy for his support of this scholarship throughout the years.
- Each year players who are current high school seniors who have played a minimum of two years with AHSHA are eligible to apply for this award.
- Qualifications for this monetary scholarship are based on a player’s quality of Academic Success, Civic Character, Leadership both on and off the ice, as well as fair play.
- Application will be accecpted December 1, 2016 through January 7, 2017.
